It is now a couple of years since Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 , and The Travelers decided to bring us into the world of the boy wizard created by JK Rowling with a new title on the last three chapters of the saga. Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 retains, at least for the basic elements, the structure of its predecessor. As is tradition for all games starring Lego bricks, the game mechanics are focused on the destruction and reconstruction of objects, eliminating enemies and solving puzzles with the need to exploit the unique characteristics of the various characters provision and, if you play in the company of a friend, to coordinate their actions to be able to proceed.

Those who have already played the previous chapter (or another title Lego) then try a feeling of familiarity once picked up the pad, but will simply entering in the first phases of the game to notice the presence of a number of innovations. In addition to stress such as Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is by far the largest ever title created by Travelers Tales, both in terms of the dimensions of the game (a very conservative estimate, should be required about twenty-five hours complete the game 100%) that with regard to the number of these characters (the cast should be somewhere around two hundred units, which add up to more characters available in future DLC), Vince Grogan led us on a quick tour that has seen in a few minutes passed from the creation of an antidote to counter a love potion drunk by Ron a broomstick ride along the Thames.

One of the most interesting elements of Lego Harry Potter: Years 1-4 was the presence of different spells to use to solve puzzles. 5-7 years proposes enlarging this dynamic game with new possibilities. The number of spells available has been significantly enhanced and now includes, for example, that exploit the power of water magic spells or special dedicated to the exploitation of which consist exclusively of red brick walls. Were also inserted Spectrespecs, special glasses needed to view (and activate) present in areas where the pieces of colored particles floating blue and purple.

Another novelty is represented by duels, one on one battles that will see two opposing characters in circular arena divided into two semicircles. To get the upper hand on the opponent will have to replicate the magic they are using (every spell is indicated with a different color) and quickly press the attack button to send him to the ground. During the presentation we were able to attend one of these fights (Xbox 360, but we have not seen anything of the portable version, which will use different dynamics for these situations) and the impression is that it is an interesting diversion, especially if entered from time to time to break the rhythm. However, what has not changed is the presence of a large number of secret items to discover, most of which can be recovered only once completed the main adventure mode and Free Play: As per tradition, in fact, some puzzles can be solved only by revisiting areas already completed after selecting specific characters.

Lego Harry Potter: Years 5-7 is therefore not a simple completion of the Harry Potter Lego version, but a title enriched by some new and, thanks to feedback from fans, improved in those components that showed some weaknesses. The technical realization is leading some changes and, although they can not talk about restyling, some improvements are evident especially with regard to the wealth of some environments (very nice raids in the city of London) and the effects of light. However, what has not undergone any change is made in the typical humor Lego, used in correspondence of the more "mature" which characterized the last three chapters of the saga of adventure just to make every step enjoyable even for very young audiences.
