At the time of its release (as many as fifteen years ago), Z is not proved a resounding success, while making good sales record, excellent reception from critics and giving life five years after the sequel Z: Steel Soldiers (not really memorable, to say the truth). The fact that the RTS of The Bitmap Brothers managed to carve out a leading role in the crowded scene, Command & Conquer strategic post at the time, everything is pointing irony of the dialogue and characters (a mix of cowboys and robots), is a quite original game play, which shrank in the classic styles of the genre.

Not a masterpiece or a milestone like other illustrious contenders, but still an excellent title, which we find today on iPhone and iPad Capcom and through what remains of The Bitmap Brothers, have gone back into the limelight last year due to renovation of Speedball 2 Evolution . Z, here renamed Z: The Game, is not a remake in the classic sense, but a restatement of the original game as it stands, the only difference being the new touch interface and the lack of multiplayer. A pity they can not compete with other players, as we did fifteen years ago with the unforgettable modem at 28,800, but do not rule out a future addition to this effect and in any case we can at least console themselves with the online leader board via Game Center.

For the rest Capcom has also written all the original movies (even if set in low resolution in a small window) but forgetting to include any form of tutorials and not making any changes to the graphics. For 3.99 euros in short, we would expect a little more effort, but those only interested in the substance of the game Z: The Game shows you exactly all the in-game content of the original version or twenty levels divided in five planets, six units of robots, seven vehicles and four types of defensive positions.

At the time Z signaled for a slightly different game play from the classic vein of Command & Conquer, offering resources to collect or not to build buildings and allowing units to collect various power-ups from the ground (such as grenades). Insights absolutely lovely (including the ability to take enemy vehicles) that work great today, leaving the player to win the only thought all areas of the map, to defend them and destroy the enemy base, all in the shortest possible time. In addition to the variety of planets (all with different types of surfaces) and maps, Z: The Game is also noted for the strategic depth, given the importance of time and the enemy of good intelligence, if we think of the past fifteen years.

 The lack of management resources, buildings and units (robots and vehicles are made automatically once conquered an industry), far from being a simplification tactic, so that reaching the end of the twenty levels has not revealed all while having a joke already completed the game then (and again on Saturn). Excluding some small error in translation, conversion for iPad is altogether successful, but suffers from an interface with tiny icons and also appears Lilliputian units (as well as in the elephantine movements) on the display of the tablet. Fortunately, we soon learn, but who fingers a little 'big will find it hard to imagine more than they should, and the iPhone and iPod Touch, the situation is even more uncomfortable.
