Also this year we approach the new appointment with Dragon Ball, whose origins refer to Japan but is now a fixture of autumn in the West exit. Tenkaichi Dragon Ball Z Ultimate promises to be a closer adaptation of the original series, especially for art direction, thanks to the many links with the TV series and animated interludes that distinguish the single-player campaign.

The version tested, PlayStation 3, it was virtually complete including subtitles as always, flanked by (optionally) the American or Japanese voices. Choosing the campaign "classic" of Story Mode, you relive the most famous sequences of the TV series with an introductory text, some animated interludes and then the battle that we saw on the screen but this time experienced live. In some cases, you can move up a map that represents the world of Dragon Ball with various possible destinations, flying from one place to another as seen in Dragon Ball Z: Tenkaichi Tag Team for PSP. Completed a sequence, it takes a new leap ahead in the saga of television time, and so on up to the obvious conclusion, of course, with a gradual increase in difficulty (though we can adjust during the game). If you see it again the same sequence and the same characters sounds too boring, there is the alternative dell’ Hero mode, i.e. a new scenario that remixes the original around a character created by us. In fact the editor to create their own alter-ego is not much depth, just some adjustments to hair and clothing, but the progression-style role-playing game is fairly treated. At the sound of fighting and tutorials on the part of the key characters, we can strengthen our Asian learning new techniques and strengthening the statistics, then use it in fast or challenges on the network (of course the multiplayer was not active during the test).

The technical part is announced in line with previous releases Namco Bandai in the house, so a good development of characters and a great cure for the shots, but certainly not from the seabed and details scream. The best elements emerge during the sequences style quick time event, as superpose or finishing moves that cover sequences already seen on TV. As for the pure visual spectacle, in short, a Dragon Ball fan should be satisfied, while the structure of the game does not differ much from older issues. At the time, and after some tests certainly not definitive, the fights are too chaotic and too focused on quick time events, compared to other fighting games. Often, at least in the test, it was just hammering the buttons to be right opponent, while in other cases we have lost while trying to play in a "rational".
