If the first review of RAGE that we have proposed on the Xbox 360 version is surely significant, and John Carjack also reiterated a few days after the release of the game: the users of the PC version do not expect anything more than a console game, but higher resolution, manageable - of course - also via mouse and keyboard, but without intending to serve as a paradigm for the personal computer graphics for years to come. For that, if you wish, there is still the old Crysis, there will be Battlefield 3, but this tour, id Software decided to back out. Needless to add that many have not taken very well and the problems that have marked the launch of Windows in the house have been erected by some as a symbol of "betrayal" consumed against the hard-core fans.

Once satisfied the squeamishness of the graphics engine on the driver (main cause of these problems of launch), the game from id Software does is sciorinare breathtaking views in sequence, one after another, and the player receives the blows to jaw like a boxer who just wants to be beaten again. The feeling does not last more than a few hours but that is enough to arrive in mid-campaign with eyes already satisfied (but not yet satiated hands of shootings and fun). Given the length of the single-player and two multiplayer modes, no one can accuse raged not ample proof of the four years of development behind it, this just is not.

In a perfect world would have a PC version of RAGE more care, perhaps with some effect DirectX 11, and a menu of options worthy of that name, with everything you need to geeks to make their evidence and find the best compromise (inevitably subjective) between quality and performance. But no, the game does it all and if that is not horrible handrails with the texture looks good on you, instead get a reason, be happy that the game runs at 60 frames per second and pretend that there is no handrail. Those who would be content with a few "drop" of fluid (without tearing, of course) in exchange for more consistent quality textures? We timidly raise his hand, hoping not to find a severed from Wing sticks.

As we now know, Carjack has in fact preferred the style of painting in the realistic and put his huge work of artists at work: rebuilding a post-apocalyptic world with the greatest possible care and attention to detail, looking at the way a painter on canvas and trying to make the most of the pros lighting offline, without making too much weigh the cons. He's done it, yes, but at what cost?
Just like a painting, or as a photo, the world of RAGE seems frozen in an instant, with the light echo the static objects of the scenario: nothing can move or be destroyed, except for those few functional things to the game play, see the explosive barrels and the occasional wooden box. In this frame technology, which is undoubtedly a step back in time, before they came out Half-Life 2 and Crysis, the game in the strict sense wins the battle against the mistrust of the "graphics whore" that is within us. The level design, the genuine delicious must use the weapons, the attention that is calibrated to the pace, even the multiplayer mode; nothing has been overlooked what really matters in a FPS. It's almost too bad if the Battlefield and Call of Duty to occupy the office of the discussions between fans and the "dinosaur" RAGE has already found a place in our hearts. We will try not to forget in a hurry.
