Four years ago Crysis came revolutionizing the PC market (not just) the view of the first-person shooter, already profoundly changed by the push of free-roaming "predecessor" spiritual Far Cry. Crytek's shooter is revealed not only a true miracle of technique (just think of the destructibility of the environment), but he allowed the German team to set up a thrilling game play, free, and sufficiently non-linear with the invention of the tactical NanoTite. He came out a success for over three million copies that he had to confront three problems of no small account: on one side hardware requirements too exorbitant for most users (at least in 2007), the other a less successful second part of first multiplayer component and a somewhat 'rough compared with that of other AAA shooter era.

After four years away Crysis finally arrives on HD consoles, the strong response was good with Crysis 2 (three million copies sold in late July) and the new graphics engine Cry Engine 3, Crytek has allowed to develop this port in the best possible way. The version we tested is the one for Xbox 360 (strangely download from Marketplace only requires 4 GB) and we have to say though, remains a far cry from what we saw on the PC, the graphics quality of Crysis us pleasantly surprised. The Cry Engine 3 has added new lighting effects from the original version and also the contrast it seemed more stringent: the detail is generally not a miracle (the same as Crysis 2 offers something more on this side), but the vegetation of the jungle is still a beautiful view and the beauty of the scenarios does the rest. Unfortunately, the fluidity is not flawless and open spaces (the level in the valley at the edge of the tank) the frame-rate is a little 'hard to remain stable, even if it does not impact on the game play.

The same textures go from good to inadequate, the viewing distance is more limited than that of PC and the new effect on the windows of the jeep with the first-person is nothing short of controversial. Limits perhaps inevitable given the "heaviness" of the original version, but overall the viewing experience is quite enjoyable and at times surprising, although the start of the game at night with its slightly 'muddy we had raised fears for the worst. As already done for Crysis 2, Crytek has also added support for viewing here in 3D, which together with the lack of multiplayer and the cut section of the Ascension level (the one on board the VTOL) remains in fact the only difference to the original version of 2007.

The other great unknown of this port was connected to the control system, especially for changing weapons and for the management of NanoTite with its powers. Its presence in Crysis Crytek 2, however, has allowed mapping accurately controls in Crysis and the result is nearly perfect. The controls are fluid and immediate, with a few small differences from the original version found in most shooting speed and energy consumption of different NanoTite, that there seemed a bit 'more generous (at least at the level of difficulty). For the rest, excluding some error in artificial intelligence (some enemies get stuck in trees and rocks) and a small bug in the handling of achievement, the whole game is a perfect replica of what we saw four years ago on the PC.

The sharp division between the first and second part continues to be so slightly and affect the overall value of the game, but we must admit that Crysis (Far Cry as well) has not lost a shred of news and entertainment. The great freedom of action and movement, the approach more or less stealth "bomber", the driving of vehicles, the powers of NanoTite, the scenery on the island, the impact of certain in-game sequences, the discrete enemy intelligence (will not be FEAR 3 , but averseness of opponents as well) and the rare balance between tradition (the whole part with the aliens) and innovation are still elements of an absolute value. Counting then the attractive price and longevity that moment averages between nine and twelve hours, we can only advise all Crysis fans of the genre, especially those who have welcomed a little 'cold "normalization" of Crysis 2. To those who have a medium-power PC recommend (re) playing this classic mod as improvements Rygels Life sis and Real, which in addition to further increase the thickness of the graphics are still Cry Engine 2 Crysis one of the most visually impressive titles ever .
