The explosion of the mobile market has provided an accessible outlet to a range of developers not at ease in the big productions. Of the group, inevitably, also belong those members of the old school who were unable or did not want to retrain in a market so different from what once hosted them. It is for example the case of Jeff Minter and his absurd productions Lamasoft. And is considered analogous to the situation of this Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk.

A character who was quite famous at the turn of the eighties and nineties in short, to try to perform, clearly addressing an audience of mainly nostalgia, with the refurbishment of one of the most successful episodes of the series. In Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk you find yourself driving the anthropomorphic egg Dizzy, pledged to save his "beautiful" by an enchanted sleep. To do so, we must explore a setting that is a parody of fantasy rosewater generic and has in place a series of static situations to be solved using the correct object in the right place. Puzzles very simple, short, essentially requiring you to retrieve a particular item and take it patiently to his destination.

Beyond this, Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk is also a slight element platform, very little more than sketchy. There are almost no enemies to kill, and a few are still being addressed by present puzzles to solve (the encounter with the evil twin of Dizzy offers perhaps the more appropriate of the puzzle game). In short, a very faithful remake of the original, if not cured by the same Paul Ranson who worked on it at the time: the graphic design reads very well the style of the times, giving it a refreshed without upsetting, and the theme music be rearranged easily, even if by dint of listening loop you end up in a hurry to take advantage of the option to turn off the music.

From the point of view of the system of play, you notice some differences from the original, but a minor impact. For example, it has gone from a structure fixed screens to the introduction of a pleasant multi-scrolling, which improves visibility in more than one situation, and Dizzy has gained the ability to start running after a few seconds of walking, a lot of streamlining the weight of having to constantly go back and forth to perform various tasks. Beyond this, a few slightly off-deck and other such details, the game has remained essentially the same. Clearly now is controlled via a touch pad, then the canonical virtual pad icons and their physical limits of precision and feedback. Not that the absence of a pad feels particularly, it is a game that little or nothing on the action points, but hardly a work of adaptation deeper, perhaps with the ability to tap directly contacts with the finger, and items to collect, without having to press the virtual key, it would not be sorry.

On balance, however, Dizzy: Prince of the Yolkfolk offers exactly what it promises, namely a remake to the original and very well made ​​one of the best episodes of a series historical in its own way. The problem is that this makes it a perfect game for the nostalgic, yet very simple and rather short, even comparing it to other securities sold for the same price in mobile computing.
