After two months from the console to HD and almost simultaneously to the exploit of Dead Island, who recently crossed the milestone of one million copies sold, see you on the shelves Call of Juarez: The Cartel, this time in the PC version. At its release in mid-July, this third installment of Tec land shooter had not been welcomed in the best way by critics and audiences. Too abrupt a change of environment (the first two chapters of Western modernity to a "narcotic"), too little technical achievement, the single player game too repetitive. To save the cabin we thought the co-op online and a fair characterization, but even so the fans of "real" Call of Juarez were coolly received this third episode and unlikely things are bound to change with the release of PC.

For this new version of Tec land has not changed anything in terms of plot, game play and in-game content (multiplayer included), putting his hand to almost only the graphics with the addition of a version for DirectX 11. The graphics settings are, however, very few and we could not even forcing AA to activate the NVIDIA control panel. In any case, compared to what we saw on the Xbox 360, the situation is far more comforting, if only for the lack of tearing (the first really annoying), for the highest detail and texture slightly more refined. Unfortunately defects remain modest as the viewing distance (the usual fog reappears), some 'stuttering (but only in DX11 mode) and made the water rather simplistic, the gist of which we passed, or that of a vehicle are virtually void.

 A short technical sector but low enough with some elements of personality and very subdued, although in fact, given the results on the console, we could expect some kind of wonder. The strangest aspect is, however, the difference in graphics between the shooter and Dead Island, titles developed both by the same team and with the same graphics engine (the Chrome Engine 5) but very different as to details and attention to detail, almost like if the treatment of Call of Juarez: The Cartel had been carried out by the Polish team with a lot less attention than that of Dead Island. We also found some bugs in the audio mixing and sound effects very different poor (some shooting on the road), not present among others in the console versions.

For the rest we find the same game two months ago and despite the time elapsed remain valid considerations in the review for PlayStation 3. Disappearance of the Western enchanting setting, Call of Juarez: The Cartel can not offer a setting equally valid (but there are homage’s to the past anyway), while giving some nice found in the characterization of the three playable characters and an atmosphere quite fun to be fierce and foul-mouthed cop. The single player campaign, however, remains weak for the monotony of the game play (a little confused interludes serve to guide), both friend and enemy intelligence really deficient, so that the unarmed combat are among the most unintentionally comical views within the last shooter. Here and there he stuck breakers scripted Tec land (imagine if there was a helicopter on duty) and steps in slow motion, but the meat of the fire is still small, and if approached from the game just confirms weak in almost all respects of view.

Fortunately, we think the online co-op to put a piece. Not that there are many players online at the moment (we just found someone on the fifth attempt), but the game mechanics in the company earn more than a little thick, a little 'for the competition that develops between the players to complete their tasks "secrets", a little 'for the greater exploitation of the largest location in the combat phase to the benefit of tactical depth. For the competitive multiplayer modes are the same on consoles already seen, even in this case is nothing new under the sun, but the experience system and upgrade of weapons is always effective, while the maps could be available to the largest and best developed . What remains at the end of Call of Juarez: The Cartel? We are not in front of the wreckage indicated by many critics and if dealt with in co-op game deserves a full enough (and perhaps something more), but the step back from his two predecessors is evident in all aspects, both of us ask how did the team of Dead Island to give birth to a like "little mouse", after two good tests Westerns of recent years.
