The first Mass Effect is one of the great classics of this generation, thanks to its strong narrative accompanied by solid game play, though not free from defects. With the second installment of the series, Beware decided to pay more attention to sections of the shooter game improved considerably compared to the past, while reducing the importance of role-playing sections, such as the management of the party and of its equipment, by twisting more than a nose among fans. Fortunately, dialogue and characters were confirmed at the highest level and Mass Effect 2 is still a success, albeit with controversial judgments by the players. Not satisfied with the discussions triggered the second episode, with Mass Effect 3 Beware has decided to introduce a multiplayer portion of this science fiction saga. Choice, of course, did not go down to more than one player. Last week we flew to London for the event EA Showcase, we were able to try this new game mode and we have taken some first impressions.

In a game with a strong narrative structure such as Mass Effect, a multiplayer storyline would have been divorced from an element quite out of place, but Beware claims to be able to integrate this new mode of play in the fight against the raiders of Commander Shepard, the have now taken control of the planet Earth. In an attempt to repel the invaders, the player will be able to exploit what it called Beware Galaxy At War, a cooperative multiplayer mode where you can battle against AI controlled enemies. Galaxy at War puts the player in front of a map of areas of the galaxy which, if released successfully, will give access to additional resources to use in the war against the Raiders. The map also gives the possibility to check the status of enemy and allied forces in preparation for the final showdown. To avoid the risk that any mission to see Shepard's four in the field, players must choose their character from anonymous members of the various races of Mass Effect universe, such as Turin, or Samarian Drill. Their characteristics, weapons and abilities mirror those of the protagonists of the game, then play with one of them will be rather familiar experience for all fans of Mass Effect and use them in battle will be very natural after a short adjustment period.
