In the time elapsed from the first ads to its actual publication, infamous 2: Festival of Blood has lost the number "2" in the title to emphasize that it is a scenario completely independent from other episodes. Good news for those who have no infamous 2 and just wants to play this new mini-adventure horror, in which Cole McGrath is meaner than ever and must save himself above all.

The story sees Cole made a prisoner by a legion of vampires living in the basement of New Mara’s (the city had seen in infamous 2) and wants to resurrect his queen with the blood of our electricity superhero. Performed the rite of resurrection, the demonic Bloody Mary starts turning to rage on the surface, with the classic bite humans in his followers. The task she finds it easier because in this specific time of the plot is celebrated Night Pyre, the consideration of Halloween in New Mara’s. Citizens are then dressed up as monsters and do not realize that some "monster" he is working on the streets for real. But more than anything else, Cole gets bitten, and in turn should prevent that, come the dawn, becomes a vampire and a servant of Bloody Mary outright. From this moment begins a race against time (virtual, because there are no limits) with the classic duo-Zeke Cole committed to restore normalcy in New Mara’s and figure out how to beat the frenzied Bloody Mary.

In the new setting night, the game play remains on the standards of infamous 2, but with slightly more linear dynamics, supplemented by new skills, "vampire" Cole earned along the way. For example, the X-ray vision with which to detect the presence of other vampires or the ability to fly short distances. Their use is related to the amount of human blood that we have sucked from the neck of some hapless passer-by, because Cole has to eat to survive. Although the mini-campaign lasts only two hours for six / seven positions in all, there are other things to do in addition to the story. The creative team at Sucker Punch has "cut" a good chunk of the original title for this DLC, by including the level editor and the ability to play missions created by users. Thinking of the various parallel goals, such as items to collect and enemies to kill, we find many activities incidental to the plot, as in all self-respecting free-roaming games. The main attraction, however brief, is the new story dedicated to vampires:  with great new music and animated cartoons tell the story involves the first minute with a rate very close and well-developed horror themes. Given that we are in the field on Friday that Scary Movie 13, this digression into the world of the occult infamous shows that the series (and its graphics engine) are perfectly suited to many different themes.

Another factor to consider is support for Move, which significantly changes the way we play, to the point that doing the same missions with the motion controller can be a good way to extend the "life" of this DLC. If fact, with the joy pad movements were concentrated on the Cole, with Move (because of too many commands) are still on the ground using the seabed as a cover and using the above aims, it becomes much more precise. We get a good shooter and arcade-style game play more focused on ranged combat, with the various "power weapons" of the protagonist. On the other hand, and as almost always happens in games with Move support, there is no real incentive to play with the motion controller, which is eventually used as a simple Light Gun, coupled with a joy pad device (for Cole moved). In any case, does its job extremely well and can make the most interesting sections have dealt with several times the usual Dual Shock.

Even in respect of price, a penny less than ten euros, which crosses the whole path with infamous: Festival of Blood is a road that we recommend to all PS3 users, not just fans of the series. In addition to the elements already described above (good location, atmosphere in the story, support Move), there are some brand new enemies and extra powers for the protagonist to make the fight more challenging and interesting. The award "the most reviled enemy" goes to the Harpies, vampires, women dressed in leather with a double shooting that Uzi hanging on buildings, being able to teleport from one area to another. On the opposite side, the defect is obvious segmental drop of fluidity in some sections and some long stoppage in the story, sometimes too distracting. On the graphics side, the developers may have exaggerated the effects related to light and smoke, yes, but make the scene spectacular shots obvious cause when they get more than five or six characters on screen. However, other qualities described above keep this mini-expansion in the field of recommended purchases, especially because it is not the usual DLC trying to suck blood.
