No, Defenders or Ardan is not the classic tower defense strategy as it found hundreds, now, on any platform, and maybe even free. The formula is that it is like comparing a Quake and Battlefield FPS in the field: it is clear that the pace and breadth of vision of the two games are completely different, while calling for both wield a weapon and shoot at an enemy. Where the classic tower defense stimulate a well-defined part of your brain, resulting often little more than a pastime to be relaxing lunch break, Defenders of Ardan aims instead to absorb all your attention, as if it were a true real-time strategy complete with all the options.

The concept of tower defense has already declined in some variants, and "reversed" mirror of its kind - see under Anomaly: War zone Earth - but rarely has been expanded as in the case of this new strain of Paradox, where the role of attacker and Both counsel are covered by a single player. The plot and setting of Defenders of Ardan are classically fantasy, derived from the series of Majesty, sprinkled with plenty of irony in the dialogues and cartoon characters in a feature and light. The narrative, however, is little more than an excuse to jump into the fray and become familiar with the controls, to say the least original for a game like this, based solely on the keyboard. Accustomed to click as obsessed with any mouse button, in other tower defense for your PC, in fact, we found ourselves having to learn to "play the piano" as South Korea engaged in a final Star Craft without fully understand the meaning of this choice . After a few rounds, fortunately, the disorientation in part vanishes and is finally able to tune into the game.

In each map of Defenders of Ardan you will defend your base from enemy waves, through the usual towers, looking at the same time (and without being able to pause) to destroy the enemy base repaid with the same coin. Initially you will have a few towers and a few units to choose from but going forward it should unlock a quantity satisfying - not to mention that the three playable factions have different units and towers. A further complication comes from the use of magic, limited by long "cool down" but still needed to raise the most desperate situations (for example, when our base is collapsing).

Just started playing, it only takes two minutes for the map is literally covered by the towers of the four opponents: practically a maze of deadly crossbows and catapults which become entangled in long rows of units, most of which fall before arriving at their destination. The difference, sometimes even minimal, of the units that go and sign and those who die may decide the fate of a battle, and is a gap that can also be determined by a single tower badly placed. From Label Paradox of a game we do not expect certain point to "break" between casual games and Defenders of Ardan only confirms our expectations. It's a game but also very layered busy and could appeal to those looking for a multiplayer RTS to master in a short time, perhaps as a variation less "action" of the many clones of Defense of the Ancients that are coming on the market. Definitely worth keeping an eye on when it comes out.
