The announcement of Counter-Strike: Offensive Global has done more than raise an eyebrow here. Valve, adored and idolized for his creativity and quality of its games, decided to launch on PC, Mac, PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 a revised version of a game 12 years now saddled with a structure that, if compared to newer titles, it might seem to somewhat more Spartan. However, Gibe Newell and company have decided to disregard the comments of some users (and journalists undeterred ...), proceeding on their way. Recently presented at the Euro gamer Expo Global Offensive for the first time in a playable version, and although we were there for a short test direct and informal chat with Chet Falsie, one of the minds at Valve.

Despite the long tail, our press pass allowed us to quickly get comfortable in front of one of the screens and try the Xbox 360 version of the game for only three rounds as a member of the team of anti-terrorist forces (and we also lost, for the record). At the beginning of each round will proceed to the purchase of equipment through a radial menu, as usual, you can choose a primary weapon (like an assault rifle or sniper), a gun, stun grenades and explosive Kevlar armor to protect themselves from enemy fire. For the lazier and to speed things up you can also choose one of the seven default sets that offers a good variety to suit different playing styles.

As soon as the round started, it took a moment to recognize the familiar surroundings of deduct and we immediately tried to take control of key areas of the map: the T intersection in the tunnel and the bridge. After years and years of Call of Duty and the like, as soon as we have seen an enemy, your first instinct was to press a button to aim the weapon, but, true to tradition, Valve has decided not to implement this feature in this remake. We asked the reason for choosing Falsie and he replied that it was their intention to reintroduce the original Counter-Strike game play in a new graphic and without introducing new measures adopted by other recent games: a purpose certainly admirable, about which will be interesting to see what the response of the players. This leaves unchanged the characteristics of the weapons and the need to control their recoil and the growing inaccuracy of the bullets if you use long bursts.
