Take the license of a film that has twenty-five years of history behind it, add a console on the verge of sunset and you'll be in my hands Aliens: Infestation, a little game for the Nintendo DS already smell masterpiece. Why are there so unbalanced? Because it is a side-scrolling game developed by Way Forward Technologies, Contra 4 and with A Boy and His Blob and outputs as DSi Ware Shantai: Ricky’s Revenge and Mighty Milky Way has already proven to be familiar with the genre. What's more, Aliens: Infestation is done in collaboration with Gearbox Software, the same as Duke Nuke Forever, but especially Borderlands and, remember, the upcoming Aliens: Colonial Marines, coming next spring for the PC, PS3 and X360. It seems that it was the DS version of Aliens: Colonial Marines, in development at Gearbox, but which had gone missing in 2009, is the starting point for the new product Way Forward. It has long been talking about this game, popped out for the first time in May, the consultation and the equivalent of the ESRB rating of Australia, both cousins ​​of the European PEGI. Only recently, however, Sega has officially announced its existence, confirming the release date, scheduled for September. Aside from the retro look, reminiscent of games like Motored, and even before, Mission Impossible, the game presents a minefield of suggestions "Gigeriane", capable of generating a sense of unease on the small screen of the DS. 

In addition, the character design was by Chris Bachalo, the illustrator of comics made ​​famous by American spin-off of Sandman and Death devoted to some of the X-Men series. In short, the artistic front, despite the two-dimensional images, lurks a production of a certain subject.

As for the game play itself, however, certainly Aliens: Invasion is not a title for casual gamers, but a product for more seasoned players and tastes more "extreme". The goal is to lead a team of marine spatial choice to save the imprisoned comrades on the colony and simultaneously eradicate alien hordes in search of new prey xenomorphic, using an arsenal that takes its cue from the film Aliens: Clash Final like the pulse rifle, the smart gun, and flamethrowers.

And the universe of the film by James Cameron in 1986 has provided the backdrop for this new digital transposition, which has locations already known to fans as the Solace and the planet LV-426. Within this scenario, claustrophobic and atmospheric, the evolution of the plot will adapt to the choices made by the player and viewing sessions will be interspersed with numerous injections of suspense, suddenly putting at risk our chances of survival. The aliens, in fact, have a nasty habit of hiding in the dark for this, a good rule is to seek shelter immediately and shoot the blind to thin the ranks of the enemy.

From the perspective of "strategic", the game allows you to recruit up to twenty Colonial Marines, each with its own personality. Their task will be to be able to save less than five minutes teammates captured, before the embryos are nicely xenomorphic implanted in their abdomen. Depending on your character, will also vary the dialogue and narrative forks: Not all soldiers, in fact, manage to save his skin. Despite the imminent publication, we still know too little about Aliens: Infestation and we hope that the convention in Cologne will allow us to dispel the fog that envelops the title of Way Forward.
